Allison Scott
Allison is involved within the Cavendar-Bares’ team, working on developing methods and approaches to detect oak wilt infection at the leaf and canopy level, at landscape level and regional level, using spectral biology. With hand-held, drone-based, airborne, and spaceborne sensors to capture reflected photons from trees, the team detect spectral signatures of oak wilt disease enabling the application of a series of modeling approaches.
Allison contributes to indoors and outdoors experiments, whose combined results, highlight the capabilities of spectral measurements from satellite, aircraft, drones, and handheld devices to detect oak wilt at vastly different spatial scales that help to differentiate from other kinds of stress such as drought and bur oak blight, to map it at fairly high accuracy.
