Grace Pisano

I am a plant biologist with expertise in angiosperm biology, plant development, evolution, and molecular biology. In particular, I am fascinated by the intersection of these fields—how plants achieve novel adaptations through evolutionary changes to their developmental programs, and the genetic underpinning of this process. Born and raised in Massachusetts, I received my undergraduate degree from UMass Amherst, where I worked in the lab of Madelaine Bartlett on evo-devo of grass flowers and epidermal cell shape evolution in vascular plants. I received my doctorate from Harvard University in the lab of Elena Kramer working with flowers of the buttercup family. I really enjoy the research process, lab work, and science teaching. In my free time, I love to cook, craft, and play with my little dog, Cassia.
