Juan Ramírez-Lerma
As Lab Manager and Site Co-Manager of the Forest and Biodiversity experiment at Harvard
Forest, I try to bridge my career experiences in the fields of science and conservation and
project management to help the advancement of sustainable ecosystem solutions. Born and
raised in Mexico City, I hold a background in Biology and Environmental Sciences.
My journey spans roles with conservation NGOs, Mexico’s National Commission for Natural
Protected Areas, and the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), where I honed
expertise in biodiversity preservation and natural resource governance. I’m particularly
driven by the intersection of ecology and policy—how environmental science can directly
inform conservation practices and wildlife management. Whether in the lab or the field, my
work is rooted in a commitment to protecting ecosystems while fostering collaboration
between research and real-world stewardship. When I am not in the lab I enjoy hiking,
playing and listening to music or cooking.
