Steven Augustine

Steven is a former Postdoctoral Fellow at the Organismic and Evolutionary Biology (OEB) department and Harvard University Herbaria (HUH). His interests in understanding the evolution and community assembly of major plant radiations, including pines, oaks and proteas. His work combines plant ecophysiology, biogeographic history and botany. 

He is involved in projects on adaptive differentiation in bur oak populations and adaptive radiation of the Proteas in South Africa using spectral biology. He is passionate about plants and people. A native of North Carolina, he received his master’s degree from the University of Idaho and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

After his time as a postdoctoral fellow, Steven moved to Arkansas where he is now an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas, from where is will also continue collaboration with the Cavender-Bares Lab.
